Raw Honesty
The Surgeon's Scalpel and the Wounded Heart
A surgeon’s scalpel is a paradox. It's a tool of precision and pain, sharp enough to cut deep into flesh. But its purpose isn't to harm; it’s to heal. It slices away what’s diseased and dangerous—the cancer, the infection—so that new life can grow. Its purpose is ultimately to save.
I've been told many times that my honesty is a little too sharp, that my directness can sting. And I get it. The truth, when it’s raw and unfiltered, can feel like a wound. It can be uncomfortable, even painful, to hear a perspective that challenges the stories we tell ourselves. But I want you to know something from the bottom of my heart: when I speak what is real and true, my only intention is love.
I speak to cut away the harmful things—the lies we cling to, the fears that hold us captive, the deceptions that keep us small. These things may feel like a part of us, but they're not. They're like a tumor on the soul, slowly robbing us of joy, peace, and freedom. And sometimes, the only way to get rid of them is to let something sharp cut them out.
If my words ever feel like that cut, I pray you will allow that pain to have its moment. Let it sting. Let it hurt. Don’t hold onto it or let it fester. Instead, let it go. When you release that hurt, you make space—room in your heart and in your life for something better, something good, something real.
Jesus says, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." His truth isn't meant to wound us; it’s meant to set us free. It's a truth that cuts through the lies we tell ourselves and the deceptions of the world, not to leave us broken, but to heal us and make us whole. He is the divine surgeon, and his love is the scalpel that makes us new.
The Bible tells us to "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15). This is the foundation of my heart. My goal isn't to be harsh or to judge, but to extend a deep and abiding love that wants nothing but the best for you—the freedom and peace that come from living in alignment with what is real.
So, if my words ever feel sharp, know that it’s not a judgment. It’s a prayer that you’ll embrace the discomfort, let go of what holds you back, and make space for a truth that won't just sting—it will save. Make room in your heart for Jesus. He is the truth that sets us free and the love that makes us whole.
